Tragedy >For Us<

Tragedy >For Us< returned to the Urban Bar, this time as a purely DJed event. The lineup was the same as Tragedy >For Two< in 2015, as I was joined by Nathan Nothing and guest DJ traumahound.

Set 1

Note that the early part of this set wasn’t strictly in tune with the events music policy, but it’s clear that was the direction the requests were going in, so I played to the crowd.

Agonoize – Femme Fatale
Funker Vogt – Maschine Zeit
VNV Nation – Control
Die Krupps – Metal Machine Music
Nitzer Ebb – Murderous
Armageddon Dildos – The Constant Beat
Bodystyler – Your Boots
NordarR – Alarm!
Cephalgy – Gott Maschine Vaterland
Camouflage – The Great Commandment

Set 2

Front 242 – Welcome To Paradise
Kloq – Push It
Nitzer Ebb – Warsaw Ghetto
Kraftwerk – The Robots
Laibach – Alle Gegen Alle
Severed Heads – Heart of the Party
A Split-Second – Flesh
Absolute Body Control – Figures
Eleven Pond – Watching Trees
Chris & Cosey – Just Like You

Set 3

Front 242 – Tragedy >For Me<
NIN – That’s What I Get
Depeche Mode – Never Let Me Down (Aggro Mix)
The Normal – Warm Leatherette
Suicide – Rocket USA
Jean-Michel Jarre – La Cage
Vangelis – Pulstar

Tragedy >Four<

This was the fourth edition of my Tragedy >For Us< event, and also the first Terminates Here promoted event to feature live bands, with Black Light Ascension, Personal Propaganda Machine and DJ Translight all playing live sets (I recommend you check all of them out!). DJs Nathan Nothing and Kriegslok also returned, DJing between the bands and Nathan also joining me to play the afterparty. Everyone involved did a brilliant job – it really couldn’t have gone better,

The timing of my sets and the audience meant my own sets were a little more ‘populist’ than normal, though still keeping largely to the music policy. As the event was also a celebration of International EBM Day (24/2), there were a higher-than-normal number of Front 242 tracks in the set.

Set 1

Front 242 – No Shuffle
THX – To Travel
Frame Of Mind – Heart Beat
Skinny Puppy – Smothered Hope
AutoDaFeh – Divided We Fall
Escalator – God Eat God
Leæther Strip – Strap Me Down
VNV Nation – Cold
Front 242 – Welcome To Paradise

Set 2

Ministry – Revenge
Cory Hart – Sunglasses At Night
Kraftwerk – Numbers
Nitzer Ebb – Let Your Body Learn
DAF – Der Mussolini
Invincible Spirit – Push!
Project Pitchfork – Conjure
:Wumpscut: – Wreath Of Barbs
Die Krupps – Robo Sapien

Set 3

Front 242 – Tragedy >For You<
Die Form – Chronovision
Kirlian Camera – Eclipse (Anniversary)
VNV Nation – Joy
Front 242 – Headhunter V1
Laibach – WAT

Outro: Darkmen – Photographic

Let Them Eat Gak – Halloween Special

My musical selections tonight were based on both the style of the bands playing, and (later in the night) the nature of this particularly spooky occasion, hence the bizarre nature of the setlist later in the night.

Wendy Carlos – Title Music From A Clockwork Orange
John Carpenter – Halloween Theme
Alice Cooper – Welcome To My Nightmare
Sweet – Hellraiser
David Bowie – Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)
Iggy Pop – I Wanna Be Your Dog

<Urchin Child>

Curve – Chinese Burn
Queen Adreena – Pretty Like Drugs
L7 – Shitlist
Hole – Celebrity Skin
Heart – Barracuda

<Cat Bear Tree>

Blue Oyster Cult – (Don’t Fear) The Reaper
Marilyn Manson – I Put A Spell On You
White Zombie – Thunder Kiss ’65
Gothminister – Thriller

<Bleak>

AlterRed – Emily
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Red Right Hand
Bobby ‘Boris’ Pickett & The Crypt Kickers – Monster Mash
Sheb Wooley – The Purple People Eater
Jumpin’ Gene Simmons – Haunted House
Dresden Dolls – Coin-Operated Boy
Katzenjammer – A Bar In Amsterdam

<Girl From The Castle>

Ray Parker Jr. – Ghostbusters

….and since that ‘go home’ song didn’t work, I ended up resorting to:

Mötley Crüe – Shout at the Devil
